Are there laws in place to prohibit my employer from contacting me too much while Im on maternity leave?

I am not aware of any such laws, but I think you can set boundaries with your employer. Most employers will recognize and respect that new moms need time with their babies. If you expect people will need to contact you, encourage them to use email and let them know when you will check it. Maintaining a (limited) relationship with your employer while on maternity leave will allow for a smoother transition when you return. If your skills are in demand you may be able to negotiate additional weeks of leave in exchange for working from home during your leave.
