YourOnRamp

YourOnRamp.com is an online community to help women transition out of and back into the work place when they take time off and provide general career building resources.

Mashable claims that it's geared toward helping women come back after maternity leave - but I haven't really seen all that much evidence of that specific goal on the site other than the fact that the founders all took maternity leave at some point (and met at their kids' pre-school). There's a lot about work-life balance and resource building to chase entrepreneurial dreams (topics in the forums about angel funding, for example) and also a bunch of job listings on the home page.

Not to pick on Mashable (in general I like what they have to say), but I love that when people talk about women and work-life balance, everyone assumes it's work-family balance. And yes, this is a huge issue for many working women, but YourOnRamp seems to get that this is only one of many issues on women's minds when they're not at their day job.

And, even though I'm a huge supporter of women in technology fields, I love how this isn't limited to that scope. I loved reading about the women who have headed up successful retail startups, for example.

And, in my last little bit of gushing, I'd like to point out that both founders and the entire 5 person team is female. This is women launching a successful site for women within the landscape of web 2.0 ideals. I love it!
